Classic Coffee Cake
It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Well for me it’s summertime, but these colder mornings go perfectly with this classic coffee cake. I’ve been making these since forever and a day. When the recipe was still on the Bisquick box. When I realized that it would be a favorite, I cut out the recipe from the box. Somehow it got lost and the next time I bought a box of Bisquick I handwrote the recipe and filed it away in a plain three ring binder. Unfortunately, that handwritten recipe eventually got lost as well. So….I bought another box of Bisquick and…there was no recipe for coffee cake!!! Ugh!! Thank goodness for internet. This time the recipe was saved and printed.
With just a few ingredients, this has become an all time favorite. Especially during the cooler seasons of fall and winter. I love that all you need are a few pieces of bakeware and about a half hour. You will love.love.love the aroma as it bakes. The sweet smell of brown sugar and cinnamon in melting butter drifts through the air is enough to awaken even the sleepiest of sleepy heads! As the temperature of the oven warms your home, it’s so easy to fall in love with the cooler weather. But as a girl born and raised in Hawaii I cannot help but love summertime the most!
1/3 cup Original Bisquick mix
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 tablespoons from butter or margarine
2 cups Original Bisquick mix
2/3 cup milk or water
2 tablespoons sugar
- Heat oven to 375 degrees. Grease 9 inch round pan. in small bowl, stir streusel ingredients until crumbly; set aside.
- In medium bowl, mix coffee cake ingredients until blended. Spread in pan. Sprinkle with streusel.
- Bake 18 to 22 minutes or until golden brown.
Best served warm.
